Michael Burrows
Managing Director

Michael is an electrical engineer who brings over 35 years’ engineering experience to his role as our Managing Director. After gaining a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Ulster University in the late 1970s, Michael began his career with Short Brothers in Belfast.

Since then, he’s worked with many companies both in Northern Ireland and across the globe, including Anglovaal Group in South Africa, B2B Engineering in Australia and Armenia, FIN Engineering, Veolia and Bombardier. Whilst in South Africa he gained his Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works), and he also holds a National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).

Keen to address Northern Ireland’s skills shortage in the field of high voltage power supply, Michael founded Horizon in 2015. Feeling that it’s important to give something back, Michael launched the Horizon Training School in 2020 to share his expertise, as well as delivering CPD accredited management awareness in electrical safety, high voltage and low voltage operational training courses to companies across Northern Ireland and further afield.
